Angels: Signed IF Troy Glaus, third overall pick in June amateur draft, to one-year deal. Glaus, 21, broke Pacific-10 record for homers in a season held by Cardinals' Mark McGwire.

Reds: Extended affiliation agreement for two years with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Yankees: Activated DH Cecil Fielder from disabled list. Added RHP Joe Borowski to roster.


Heat: Named Ed Pinckney radio analyst for home games.

Warriors: Named former Bullets assistant Bob Staak as assistant coach.

Sacramento (WNBA): Re-signed coach Heidi VanDerveer. Retained general manager Jerry Reynolds.

CBA: F-C Terquin Mott of Coppin State was 20th pick in draft by La Crosse.


Buccaneers: Waived WR Brice Hunter.

Chiefs: Waived 1995 first-round pick OT Trezelle Jenkins.

Panthers: Signed WR Mark Carrier. Waived QB Shane Matthews.


Kings: Returned D Peter Hogan, D Sean Blanchard, C Scott Barney and C Matt Zultek to their respective junior teams.

Boston College: Named Gene DeFilippo Jr. athletic director.

Cal State-Northridge: G Markus Carr will miss basketball season with torn anterior cruciate ligament in left knee.

Kansas: Freshman TE Jason Gulley and senior DB Avery Randle were suspended for one game each after being provoked into a fight on campus last Saturday.

Southern University: Turned itself in for running a full-page ad of TB Melvin Williams in a game-day publication. NCAA rules prohibit an athlete's name or picture in for-profit ads.
