St. Mary's and Pickett cruise, 27-0 No. 1-ranked Saints shut out St. Paul's

Eric Pickett ran for 110 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns as top-ranked St. Mary's rolled to a 27-0 win last night over St. Paul's. Saints (2-0) quarteback Ryan Metzbower ,, ran for a touchdown and threw for another.

The Saints' defense totaled nine sacks, two by Rod Hoffman, who also collected 10 tackles.

St. Mary's took control with 13 points in the second quarter, as Metzbower scored on a 2-yard run, then threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Prickett, that pushed the Saints lead to 20-0.

No. 5 Poly 49, Southwestern 0: Junior running back Charles Haywood ran for 110 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Engineers (2-0) overwhelmed the host Sabres (0-2). Poly got another 78 rushing yards from Daniel McMichael and Montez Jordan had four interceptions.

No. 14 Patterson 26, Edmondson 0: Brenden Williams scored two touchdowns to go along withnine tackles and an interception as the Clippers (2-0) blanked the host Redskins (0-2). Ronnie Rivers added eight tackles. Patterson's defense has yet to be scored upon this season.

City 32, Forest Park 0: Senior quarterback Warren Smith threw two touchdown passes and returned a punt 45 yards for a score as the host Knights improved to 1-1. Forest Park fell to 1-1.
