A man wanted on carjacking and murder charges in the death of another man who was hit by a car outside a tavern turned himself in late Wednesday, authorities said, and was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center yesterday in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Shawn Timothy Long, 23, of the 800 block of Frankewitz Road was arrested when he surrendered at the Essex Precinct, said Sgt. Kevin Novak, a spokesman for county police.

Long and John Roger Simpson, 27, of the 900 block of Frankewitz Road have been charged with first-degree murder and carjacking in the death of William Albert Ehinger Jr., 58, of the 3400 block of McShane Way.

Police said Ehinger was struck by his car outside a tavern in the 1800 block of Eastern Ave. on Aug. 10. His car was found on Hopewell Avenue.
