No. 20 Loyola tops Fairfield, 5-1

Freshman midfielder Dan Mosny scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Kevin Alvero had a goal and an assist as 20th-ranked Loyola defeated Fairfield, 5-1, in a rematch of last season's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship game yesterday at Curley Field.

The Greyhounds (2-0-2), ranked in the Soccer America Top 20 for the first time since 1994, broke a scoreless halftime tie by converting three times in the first six minutes of the second half.

Mosny scored 33 seconds in, and Brian Alvero followed with a goal just 1: 20 later to push Loyola's lead to 2-0. Mosny's second goal came in the 50th minute.
