Kiwi salsa gives a lift to grilled entrees

Try this unusual and delicious condiment with grilled chicken or pork.

Kiwi salsa

Makes 2 servings

2 kiwi, peeled and chopped

1/2 cup tomato, chopped, seeded

2 tablespoons green chilies

2 tablespoons green onion, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 teaspoon oregano

Combine and chill until ready to use.

Ads on apples

If you're like me, you find those tiny labels on fruits and vegetables mildly irritating. Imagine how much more annoying they'll be when they begin advertising movies. This month, according to the Wall Street Journal, stickers on 12 million Granny Smith and Fuji apples in supermarkets around the country will promote the home-video release of Jim Carrey's "Liar, Liar."

Gourmet, in and out

Sutton Place Gourmet opened Sutton on the Run in the Village of Cross Keys just two years ago with great fanfare. Now it's closing the gourmet-to-go shop Monday-- to consolidate its Baltimore-area business, says spokeswoman Betsy Garside. (The Sutton Place Gourmet in Pikesville recently expanded.) Bun Penny from The Mall in Columbia will be opening its second shop in the space. Itwill be a full-service deli with gourmet groceries, ice cream and produce.
