The Red Cross Central Maryland Chapter named Bob Belford volunteer of the month for August. Already an active responder at local disasters, Belford recently began volunteering as a dispatcher. He has experience in the field of firefighting, which has proved valuable to his role with the Red Cross Disaster Assistance Team.

North Arundel Hospital presented its "People Who Care" award to three employees in recognition of commitment, compassion and outstanding service. Honorees were: Cardiology Department secretary Amy Johnson of Pasadena; building engineer David McGunigale of Glen Burnie; case manager Deborah VanOrden of Pasadena. Award winners receive a commemorative People Who Care pin, a framed certificate of appreciation, a $100 American Express gift check and one month of free parking in the hospital garage.
