The Merediths, gospel trio, to perform at Sunday service

IT'S BACK to business, after a restful summer, for many church and community groups in the Pasadena area.

Chesapeake Christian Center Church of God, 7975 Tick Neck Road, will play host to the musical gospel group The Merediths at its 10: 45 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The young trio from Swansea, S.C., consists of siblings Alesia and Brett Meredith, along with Larry Shaw. The group was formed in 1984 by the Merediths' father, the late Richard Meredith.

The group performs for audiences of all ages in churches and at conventions and special events. The community is invited to attend. Information: 410-255-3168.

Help Ronald

McDonald's in Riviera Beach will have its annual fun festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House.

This popular family event will feature the Maryland Air National Guard, the Northeast High School marching band, the Pasadena Kadettes, cheerleaders, singers and displays. A children's show, featuring the restaurant clown Ronald McDonald, will begin at 1 p.m. Raffles and a silent auction also are planned.

Church craft fair

Faith United Methodist Church will kick off the local craft-fair season with its annual fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 on the church grounds, 905 Duvall Highway, at Edgewood Road.

Spaces, with or without tables, are available for $15. Congregation members will sell food and baked goods. Information: Beverly Kinder, 410-255-5902.

Mad Hatter's Tea

The Chesapeake Women's Club will hold a Mad Hatter's Tea for new and returning members at 11: 30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mountain Road library.

"We are an active group of women, interested in helping our community," says Nancy Shell, CWC president. The group supports several outreach programs promoting youth art and libraries.

Members attending next week's meeting should bring their prize donations for the bingo-luncheon fund-raiser.

The group meets at 11: 30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the library, at Long Point Mall.

A mystery of sorts

Put on your thinking cap and bring your spirit of adventure for a Mystery Dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13 at Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road.

The dinner, sponsored by the Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 10144, will feature four courses with 16 menu items.

Money raised will be matched by the group and donated to flood victims in North Dakota.
