Marlins update

The Marlins yesterday surpassed the Orioles for best interleague record, beating Toronto to improve to 9-3. They own the third-best record in the major leagues and appear to be headed for at least a wild-card berth. Worse for the Orioles, the high-flying Marlins own the best home record in the major leagues at 43-23. Outfielder Gary Sheffield is having an off year, hitting just .236 with 57 RBIs, but hit his 16th home run yesterday. Moises Alou has picked up the slack with an outstanding offensive season. He's closing in on 20 homers and 100 RBIs. Since the All-Star break, catcher Charles Johnson is hitting .338 with 12 home runs and 32 RBIs.
