Man, 67, charged in sexual assault of 5 girls is sought in other cases

August 30, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A man charged with sexually assaulting five West Baltimore children since 1995 may have attacked others, and city police have launched a manhunt for the 67-year-old suspect, authorities said yesterday.

Robert Theodore Parker of the 2900 block of Riggs Ave. is charged with 25 counts of child sex abuse, sodomy and committing perverted sex acts. Police said Parker, also known as Omar Faroug, knew or is related to the victims, all of them girls between 6 and 12 years old.

Detective Ron Ogle of the child abuse unit said the attacks occurred inside houses. "There is an allegation that if they did not perform certain acts, they were beaten," Ogle said.

Police said they have searched Parker's West Baltimore home, but have not been able to find him. Ogle said he believes there may be more victims. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the child abuse unit at 410-396-2042.
