Officer charged with murder released on bond

August 27, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Officer Robert W. Carre Jr., charged in a 1988 slaying, was released on $125,000 bond yesterday, said his lawyer, Richard M. Karceski.

Circuit Judge Kenneth L. Johnson set bond Monday after Karceski argued that Carre, a 23-year veteran of the Baltimore police force, would not flee and posed no danger to the community.

Carre was arrested Aug. 6 and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Anthony Townes, 41, whose body was found in a parking lot in Little Italy.
