June 30, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A Virginia woman was killed outside of Annapolis early yesterday when she ran across U.S. 50 into the path of a car, Anne Arundel County police said.

Vonetta Maria Muse, 23, of Vienna was a passenger in a car eastbound on U.S. 50 near the Ridgely Avenue overpass about 2: 30 a.m. when the driver pulled onto the right shoulder.

Police said that for a reason they have not determined, Muse got out, ran into the road and was hit by a 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Russell E. Pedigo, 29, of Flint, Mich. He was not injured.

The impact threw Muse onto the hood of the Grand Prix and onto the road's left shoulder. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
