Summer burning ban in place in Carroll Count

Carroll is one of 11 Maryland counties where the Maryland Department of the Environment has banned open burning this summer. Open burning has also been banned in Baltimore.

Residents of these counties and the city are not allowed to burn leaves, brush and other land-clearing debris while the ban is in effect, through Aug. 31. The ban does not apply to recreational campfires or grills.

MDE banned open burning in the affected areas to avoid making air quality worse during the summer, the peak ozone season. Information: MDE's Air and Radiation Management Administration, 410-631-4836.
