A two-vehicle accident on the inner loop of Interstate 695 in Linthicum early yesterday left a 27-year-old man dead and three others in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to Maryland State Police,

The deceased, whose name was not released by police pending notification of relatives, was traveling north in a Mazda RX-7 when he lost control of his car and struck a Ford truck, a guard rail and a tree near the Camp Meade Road exit, police said.

The car flipped and burst into flames, with the driver trapped, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three brothers who were in the truck -- Timothy Napora. 32, James, 30, and Matthew, 40, all of Severn -- were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma with injuries including deep lacerations, police said. One had a broken hip, police said.
