A YOUNG MAN in our community who deserves congratulations is Brockston Posner Smuck, who graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School this year. The son of Paul Posner and Genevieve Smuck Posner of Brooklyn Park, he graduated with his class at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on Monday and, during the ceremony, received the Brother Vianney McDonald Award for Excellence in Social Studies. He also won the Xerox Award for the Humanities for academic excellence.
Brockston will continue his education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, for which he has received a full, four-year humanities scholarship. He will be enrolled in the honors college program, majoring in the humanities and will also have a chance to study abroad. Brockston is interested in attending law school later. Good luck on your future.

Sports banquet
North County High School athletes were honored at a recent sports banquet sponsored by the NCHS Parents Club. Receiving awards were in the varsity baseball program were: Pride Award, Jason Ashburn; Unsung Hero, George Armador; Most Improved, Andrew Helms.
In varsity softball winners were: Most Valuable Player, Kellie Evans; Coach's Award, Megan Boushell; Unsung Hero, Heather Tomer.
In tennis: Tradition Awards-- Amanda Bernheimer, Eddie Engles and Amy Geis.

Summer fitness
Stay fit and trim this summer by participating in a fitness course sponsored by the Department of Recreation and Parks. Step Aerobics is being held at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning June 16. Cost is $47.50 for eight weeks.
Fat Burner Aerobics, a 75-minute workout of low-impact aerobics, takes place at the old Lindale-Brooklyn Park Middle School on Hammonds Lane from 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning June 17.
