William Kennedy Boone III, whose family has long been prominent in Baltimore-area and Maryland politics, was sworn in this month as a judge of the Washington County Circuit Court.

Boone, who had been a partner with the Hagerstown law firm of Wachs, Boone & Schubel since 1973, was appointed last month by Gov. Parris N. Glendening to fill a vacancy created last year when Judge Daniel W. Moylan retired.

Boone is a 1964 graduate of the Naval Academy and a graduate of the University of Baltimore Law School.

His late father, A. Gordon Boone, was a speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates; his brother, A. Gordon Boone Jr., is a Baltimore County district judge.
