Tri-Churches Housing will offer a free seminar for low- and middle-income first-time homebuyers from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 12 in the lower hall of St. Jerome's Head Start Center, 765 W. Hamburg St.
Seminar topics include a broad look at the homebuying process, information about special homebuying programs and an introduction to the free counseling services offered by Tri-Churches.
After attending the seminar, participants are eligible to attend free homebuyer classes offered by Tri-Churches and area lenders. The next round of classes is scheduled for July 17, 24 and 31 at the Head Start Center. Classes run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Founded in 1985, Tri-Churches Housing is a nonprofit group committed to providing affordable housing for low-and moderate-income people in Southwest Baltimore.
Henson on panel, development is topic
Baltimore African American Real Estate Professionals Inc. will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maryland Science Center, 601 Light St.
Real estate development will be the topic of the meeting. Slated to appear on the panel are Daniel P. Henson, commissioner of the Baltimore Department of Housing and Community Development; BettyJean Murphy, president of Savannah Development Corp.; Theo Rodgers, president of A&R Development Corp.; and Carl W. Struever, president of Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse.

Century 21 Able Realty Inc. said Bill Holman was the top sales associate for the Westminster firm in 1996, selling more than $3 million worth of homes. Holman is a lifetime member of the Carroll County Million Dollar Club.
Century 21 Rosendale Realty received a Centurion Award for generating $1 million in commissions last year. The office also received the Century 21 Quality Service Award for "providing a consistent level of customer service to its clients." The award is based on the responses to a survey that is sent to nearly everyone who sells or buys a home through the firm.
Harkins Builders Inc. of Silver Spring won an Excellence in Construction Award from the Anne Arundel-Southern Maryland Associated Builders and Contractors for the Woodland Job Corps Center and Emersonian Apartments renovations. ABC's Baltimore chapter honored Harkins with the same award for building Park View at Fullerton apartments and rehabilitating Wesley Homes Inc.
Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. reports that its Bethesda/Hampden Square office sold $28.1 million worth of houses in February. That location is the No. 1 Long & Foster office in the United States for the sixth consecutive year.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors reports that its 47 offices combined to raise $30,000 for the 1997 Harvest for the Hungry Walk-A-Thons and food drive. The firm also collected 14,000 pounds of food.
O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors said Meg Christian, DyAnn Moree and Susan Wiest, sales associates with the Catonsville office, recently earned certification to sell registered historical properties in Maryland from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
