Angels update

Even with last night's 8-7 win over Chicago, the Angels have lost five of seven and eight of 13, including two of three against the Orioles last week at Camden Yards. Problems remain with the pitching staff. The rotation went into last night 7-13 with a 5.56 ERA. The starters have pitched into the seventh inning only 13 times in 35 games. When the starters fail to reach the seventh, the Angels are 8-14. The Orioles didn't exactly batter Angels pitching last week, going a combined 25-for-99 (.253). Tomorrow they get a rematch against rookie Dickson, one of only four starters to earn a win against them this season. Dickson allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings May 5. Kamieniecki, who had three first-inning walks, took the loss. The Angels rely heavily on Tim Salmon, who has 18 RBIs in his previous 81 at-bats.
