The driver of the car, Timothy Goins, 17, of Wooden Bridge Court in Reisterstown was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night.

The two youths were in a 1986 Plymouth Reliant headed west on Butler Road. The car was stopped and preparing to turn left onto Third Avenue when it was struck from the rear by a 1989 Ford pickup truck driven by Stefan Hoffnagle, 30, of the 100 block of First Ave. in Reisterstown, police said.

The impact sent the Plymouth spinning into the path of a Toyota 4-Runner driven by Michael Schweigerath, 55, of the 1200 block of Teaford Road in Forest Hill. Schweigerath's vehicle, which was headed east on Butler Road, struck the Plymouth on the passenger side.

Police said the youths did not appear to be wearing seat belts. No charges had been filed last night. Police were investigating the accident.
