A Baltimore woman who defrauded Medicaid of about $15,000 has been given a three-year jail sentence and ordered to repay the money, the state attorney general's office reported yesterday.

Patricia Washington Commodore, 26, of Calvert Street was convicted on charges that she bilked Medicaid by falsely claiming she provided health care services to about a dozen patients. A personal care provider who helped Medicaid recipients at home, Commodore admitted to routinely billing Medicaid for work not done from 1992 to 1995, said Assistant Attorney General Adina Amith.

City Circuit Judge John C. Themelis suspended all but three months of the jail term and ordered Commodore to perform 300 hours of community service.
