Police Search For 2 Men Who Robbed City Pastor During Sunday Services

Police are seeking two bandits who robbed the 79-year-old minister of a small West Baltimore church and threatened his congregation with a gun as he was about to conduct services Sunday night.

The Rev. Fred Hucks, pastor of Horn of David Church in the 1500 block of Winchester St., said he was about to read from the ninth chapter of Deuteronomy -- which describes God's wrath to the unholy -- to about 10 worshipers when two men entered, cursing and shouting, "Give us your money!"

Said Hucks, a former city police officer, "I didn't want any of my people to get hurt, so I gave the man with the gun my wallet with $55." He said both men used profanity throughout the robbery and that the gunman waved the weapon in the faces of the worshipers, most of them women. "You can't use that kind of language in God's house of worship and expect to get away with it," Hucks said.
