Churches Will Have Day Of Family Fun, Fellowship

ARCHBISHOP Keough Council, Knights of Columbus, will hold its monthly breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday in the Columbian Hall, 1381 Becknel Ave. Because the breakfast is the week before Mother's Day, all mothers will be honored.

Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 12.

Mike and Mun Hanson have been designated Family of the Month for April.

Church activities

Local churches are joining for a day of Christian fellowship, celebration and family fun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Odenton Elementary School, 1290 Odenton Road.

Singing, drama, clowns, children's games and crafts, and face-painting will be featured. Participating churches are Nichols-Bethel United Methodist, Emmanuel Baptist, First Evangelical Lutheran, Living Waters Worship Center and St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.

Admission is free.

The Methodist Youth Fellowship from Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church is sponsoring a takeout chicken dinner from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, on Murray Road in Odenton.

For $7, adults can get half a fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and a roll. Children under 12 get a chicken leg, potato salad, coleslaw and a roll for $3.50.

Desserts also will be on sold. All proceeds go toward the fellowship's summer work camp.

First Evangelical Lutheran Church and Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church are sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 17 at First Lutheran, 1306 Odenton Road.

Law discussion for seniors

Raymond Van Sweringen, an Odenton lawyer and member of the Anne Arundel County Elder Law program, will conduct a program for seniors at 11 a.m. May 6 at the O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road, as part of National Law Week.

He will discuss the advantages of having a living trust. There will be a question-and-answer period at the end of the discussion.

American Legion bingo

The Howard L. Turner American Legion Post 276, 8068 Quarterfield Road in Severn, will have bingo tomorrow at at 7 p.m. You may purchase as many cards as you like for the 38 games that are played.

There is one game with a $300 jackpot and a $50 consolation prize, and one game with a $1000 jackpot and a $100 consolation prize. The kitchen will be open with a limited menu, and a cash bar will be available. Information: 410-969-8028.
