Hits And Misses

April 28, 1997|By Peter Schmuck

On the field: Left-hander Arthur Rhodes had a rare bad outing, giving up three runs on four hits in just a third of an inning to register his first loss since July 13. He has lost just twice in 13 decisions since the start of the 1996 season.

In the dugout: Manager Davey Johnson went to his late-inning setup crew after Mike Mussina got through the sixth inning, but the normally dependable Orioles bullpen did not hold things together.

In the clubhouse: "The bullpen has been great all year," Johnson said. "This is one of the few times they didn't get the job done. But I can allow that once in a while."
