Senior Ginette Chelius scored a career-high four goals and added one assist to power No. 1 Maryland to a 10-9 win over visiting, No. 6 William and Mary at Ludwig Field in women's college lacrosse yesterday.

The Terps (15-1) recorded their 51st win in their past 52 games. Their 50-game winning streak was stopped by Loyola on Tuesday.

Chelius scored one goal in the first half and three in the second. She scored Maryland's fifth, seventh and eighth goals in a span of 4: 32 to give the Terps an 8-6 lead.

Junior Molly Renehan and senior Mandy Longstreth then rallied the Tribe (10-5) with one goal each at the 3: 13 and 2: 36 marks to make the score 10-9. Maryland's keep-away offense allowed the Terps to maintain possession and run out the clock.

Maryland senior Dana Gwaltney and freshman Christie Jenkins each scored twice.

The Tribe outshot the Terps, 23-17. Maryland's Alex Kahoe and William and Mary's Lisa Dixon each recorded 11 saves.
