Hits And Misses

April 25, 1997|By Roch Kubatko

On the field: Boston's Tim Naehring led off the fourth inning with a double to left-center, but looked as though he might be stranded when Scott Kamieniecki struck out the next two batters. Catcher Bill Haselman then hit a grounder that scooted under the glove of diving second baseman Jeff Reboulet, scoring Naehring with the game's first run.

In the dugout: Manager Davey Johnson started Reboulet at second to rest Roberto Alomar's tender left ankle. Reboulet is only slightly better after fouling a ball off the inside of his left ankle Wednesday and sustaining a bad bruise.

In the clubhouse: "I feel 100 percent better. I've just got to get my strength back in the [left] arm." -- Reliever Alan Mills, evaluating the pinched nerve in his left shoulder.
