Red Sox update

Former Red Sox outfielder Jose Canseco said recently that Boston general manager Dan Duquette is "destroying the organization," but has he checked the standings lately? The Red Sox are 10-9 after yesterday's 11-7 loss to Cleveland. They began the day in second place, three games behind the Orioles. The Red Sox split two games with the Orioles in Boston earlier this week, winning 4-2 on Monday behind Sele, who allowed five hits and a run in 6 2/3 innings. The day before, Key walked six in 5 2/3 innings but gave up only one run in an 11-1 victory. Boston's rookie shortstop, Nomar Garciaparra, has lived up to his billing, batting .352. Designated hitter Reggie Jefferson is batting .400 with 10 RBIs. Right fielder Troy O'Leary is batting .382. Third baseman Tim Naehring has 16 RBIs.
