Edc Honors Carroll Businesses At Annual Industry Enterprise Dinner

At its 1997 Industry and Enterprise Awards Dinner yesterday,the Carroll County Economic Development Commission honored several businesses in various categories.

The New Business Award went to:

Unigen Pharmaceutical Inc., which opened a 32,000-square-foot plant on Old Bachmans Valley Road in Westminster this year.

Infinite Design Inc., which manufactures commercial cabinets in Hampstead.

Dal-Tile, a Dallas-based tile manufacturer, which recently opened its mid-Atlantic distribution center in the Eldersburg Business Park.

Two companies formerly based in Finksburg shared the Expansion Award.

Sanders Distributing Co., which distributes beer and soda, is moving to Taneytown, where it will take over part of the old Cambridge Rubber plant.

Tobacco Technology is relocating to Route 26 in Sykesville.

The Carroll County Commerce Center on Route 97 in Westminster earned the Park Development award.

Anniversary Awards went to 3M, celebrating 50 years on Route 140 in Westminster; Lehigh Portland Cement, marking its centennial in Union Bridge; and Rohrbaugh's, a 25-year-old charter bus company in Manchester.

The Tourism Award went to the Antrim 1844, a Taneytown inn.
