Athletics: Damon Mashore is batting .448 (13-for-29) with nine runs scored in seven games as the leadoff batter.

Brewers: Jeromy Burnitz broke an 0-for-15 slump against his former team, the Indians, with a single in the sixth.

Cubs: Chicago lost its final three road games in 1996, and is 0-7 away from Wrigley Field this year.

Giants: Barry Bonds, who went 0-for-3, with a walk, has reached base in all 15 games this season.

Indians: The team hit back-to-back homers for the first time since September, when Jim Thome, Albert Belle and Julio Franco went deep against the Angels.

Marlins: Leadoff man Kurt Abbott went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and is in a 1-for-14 slump.

Mets: Lance Johnson has drawn 12 walks in 15 games. Last year, the team's leadoff man walked only 33 times in 160 games.

Pirates: Rookie Jose Guillen is 14-for-31 (.452) in nine starts since opening the season 1-for-20.

Rangers: Will Clark started at designated hitter, his first start of the season, and went 1-for-3 with a walk. Catcher Ivan Rodriguez left in the sixth with a slightly sprained right ankle. Team medical personnel said the injury did not appear to be serious.
