Red Sox update Red Sox statistics

Having won four straight before last night's loss to Cleveland, the Red Sox had at least temporarily silenced the critics who were ripping them for a paranoid front office. Sitting in second place, they represent the Orioles' first games against an American League East rival. The Orioles' rotation is somewhat muddled by the status of Rocky Coppinger. He could assume Monday's turn in place of Shawn Boskie given a positive side session today. Red Sox starters combine for an ERA of under 4.00, though they have allowed 13 home runs in 90 innings. The Red Sox have outscored opponents 49-30 through five innings. First baseman Mo Vaughn broke out of a power slump with two home runs Wednesday against Cleveland. The Red Sox and Indians are tied for the league lead with 23 homers.
