Zoning board rejects trailer court expansion

Contradicting a Howard County Planning Board dTC recommendation, the county Zoning Board has voted 3-2 to deny a proposal to reclassify 14 acres owned by the Pfister Mobile Home Park off U.S. 1 in North Laurel.

The Wednesday night vote prevents owners Paul and Shirley Pfister from adding 20 mobile homes to the 90 now in the park.

The board made the decision during a work session held after its night meeting -- a move that did not please Shirley Pfister.

"Well, that's a surprise," said Pfister, who was unaware of the work session. "That's the rudest, most horrible thing I have ever heard."

The Planning Board had approved the expansion in January.

School to raise money at community yard sale

Bollman Bridge Elementary School, 8200 Savage-Guilford Road in Jessup, will hold its Community Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3 -- rain or shine -- in the school parking lot.

A two-for-one sale of new books will be in the lobby. Refreshments will be available.

Sellers must provide their own tables. Spaces cost $5.
