Howard County police arrested a 19-year-old Columbia man yesterday and charged him in connection with a shooting that took place Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bonet, whose last known address was in the 6400 block of Autumn Gold Court in Owen Brown village, surrendered to police about 2: 30 p.m. yesterday, according to Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman.

Keller said Bonet was charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, among other violations.

He was being held in Howard County Detention Center awaiting a bail hearing.

Police said Curtis Eugene Johnson, 27, of the 6600 block of Possum Court in Columbia's Owen Brown village -- a cousin of Bonet's -- was shot in the leg at 8: 05 p.m. Tuesday after an argument in the basement of Johnson's house.

Johnson was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the shooting.

He was listed in stable condition.
