Day, a junior, was named the Outstanding Female Performer at the Knights Invitational after winning the 100-meter dash (12.6 seconds), 200 (25.8) and 400 (58.6). Day's time in the 200 set a meet record.

Alison Kleiner

Kleiner, a senior pitcher, won three decisions that included a shutout over Chesapeake-BC(18-0) and combined for 24 strikeouts as Owings Mills also defeated Perry Hall (6-2) and Pikesville (12-1). Kleiner also had six hits, including two doubles and three RBIs.

Chris Matthias

Westminster

Matthias threw a no-hitter and had a home run and five RBIs as Westminster defeated North Carroll (10-0). The junior also had a combined 10 RBIs and four hits, including a double and a home run, in victories over Urbana (14-10) and Frederick (18-3).

At the end of the school year each player chosen as an Athlete of the Week will be invited to a luncheon Monday, June 9, 1997 at the Towson Sheraton where one male and one female athlete of the year will be chosen.
