April 15, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Villa Julie College has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation toward the operation of an interactive distance learning program.

The college has established an instructional program, based on a model developed by Sloan, to provide training for employees of corporations distant from the campus. The program involves remote access software and the Internet, and relies on interactive learning instead of lectures.

The Sloan Foundation had previously donated $28,000 to Villa Julie's Center for Advanced Technology.
