Twins update

As hard as it is to believe, even this early in the season, the Twins are in second place in the American League's Central Division, just percentage points behind another early surprise, Milwaukee. The Twins stand at 6-5 after yesterday's 6-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Second baseman Chuck Knoblauch has reached base in 15 of his past 24 at-bats. Twins relief pitchers have accounted for 41 1/3 of 96 innings pitched, making 35 appearances. The bullpen includes former O's closer Gregg Olson, who has allowed at least a run in five of six outings and has an ERA of 24.75. Defense often has been the Twins' strength, but they have committed 12 errors. They didn't reach that total last season until the 18th game. Outfielders Marty Cordova and Roberto Kelly and first baseman Scott Stahoviak are on the 15-day disabled list.
