Checkers Drive-In opening in Ellicott City

Checkers Drive-In Restaurant Inc., a fast-food chain founded in Mobile, Ala., in 1985, will open its first store in Howard County early next month at 9441 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City.

The drive-in will employ at least 85 people, said the firm's president, Keith Martin.

Checkers uses a standard 14-by-54-foot modular building, featuring twin drive-through lanes and walk-up service. Seating is available on an outdoor patio.
