April 13, 1997|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Steve Jones and Tom Lehman, winners of two of last year's major golf championships, are among the latest entrants for the 30th Kemper Open tournament, scheduled for June 5-8 at TPC-Avenel in Potomac.

Others who have committed include Greg Norman, Ernie Els, Nick Price, Brad Faxon, Mark O'Meara, Scott Hoch, and Corey Pavin.

Jones, current U.S. Open champion, and Lehman, reigning British Open titlist, plus Els, Norman, Price, and Pavin have combined for nine major victories.

Norman, a two-time British Open winner and currently the No. 1-ranked player in the world, has won the Kemper twice, but both were in the mid-1980s when the event was held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.

Faxon, Hoch, and O'Meara were part of a four-way tie for second in last year's Kemper, three strokes behind winner Steve Stricker.
