Towson 10 names, 10 days from hire Meil, veteran assistant, among finalists for post

Longtime Towson State assistant Jim Meil is one of 10 finalists and will be interviewed in the next couple of days for the job as the school's head coach.

Towson State athletic director Wayne Edwards said he didn't mind confirming that Meil was one of the finalists since "he's been here a long time and has always been a person we would interview."

Edwards would not comment on any of the other candidates and said he is 10 days away from naming a coach to replace Terry Truax.

Chuck Driesell, an assistant for nine years to his father, Lefty, at James Madison, has applied for the Towson State job and talked to Edwards for 30 minutes in a hotel coffee shop two weeks ago at the Final Four in Indianapolis.

But Chuck Driesell said this week he had not been called in for an interview with Edwards.

"That does not mean he [Chuck] won't be interviewed," Edwards said.
