Injured Manchester girl released from the hospital

April 11, 1997

A 12-year-old Manchester girl, who was injured while trapped under a car Tuesday, has been treated and released from Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokesman said yesterday.

Nichole Pearre of the 3200 block of Maiden Lane was trying to retrieve a ball and suffered chest injuries after friends and family members apparently lifted the car and dropped it before she could move clear of the car's differential, a round hub at the center of the rear axle, police said.

Firefighters and a rescue squad from Manchester arrived soon after the 5: 38 p.m. accident and inflated air bags beneath the car before freeing her.
