Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City: 9900 block of Old Frederick Road: Someone tried to steal a videocassette recorder from a house Wednesday but fled when heard by one of the residents. Nothing was taken.

Ellicott City: 6300 block of Montgomery Road: Someone broke into a house Wednesday through a front window and stole two shotguns and two rifles.

Kings Contrivance: Eden Brook Drive and Weather Worn Way: A 13-year-old boy was approached and assaulted Wednesday by two older boys, who stole a watch and a pager.

Simpsonville: 8800 block of Harriet Tubman Lane: Someone cut a hole in a chain-link fence Tuesday and stole two tires from the property.

Wilde Lake: 10500 block of Twin Rivers Road: A man was attacked by three men Wednesday while walking from The Mall in Columbia to Wilde Lake. The robbers took the man's gold chain and paycheck and hit him with a baseball bat.
