East Baltimore raids yield 3 drug arrests

April 11, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Police said they arrested three people and seized $12,000, narcotics and weapons in raids on two East Baltimore houses last night, shutting down what they described as a family-run marijuana-distribution ring.

Lt. Richard Long of the Southeastern District said the arrests followed complaints from residents of the 200 block of S. Durham St., where the raids began simultaneously about 6 p.m.

Long said Walter Kuchta and his wife, Katherine, both 52; and the man's sister, Frances Finnerty, 48, were arrested at their homes.

Long said all three were charged with narcotic violations and were being held at the Central Booking and Intake Center pending bail hearings.
