The manager of the McDonald's in the Hillendale section of Baltimore County was shot last night when the restaurant was robbed by an armed teen-age couple, police said. The suspected gunman was captured, but the girl escaped.

According to police, the couple entered the restaurant in the 6800 block of Loch Raven Blvd. about 8 p.m. and announced a holdup. The youth held a handgun to the manager's head, and the girl kept her handgun pointed at customers and employees, police said.

After taking money from cash registers, the gunman and the manager got into a brief struggle during which the manager was shot in a shoulder and the bullet lodged in his chest, police said.

As the couple fled, police said, the gunman dropped money on the parking lot and was arrested a short time later in the heavily patrolled area.

The manager, whose identity was not released, was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment, police said.
