*TC Bank robbers usually take the money and run.

But yesterday a suspect in a robbery took time to count the cash and was arrested inside the bank.

Detective George Jennings of the robbery squad said Officer Ty Crane was on foot patrol in the 1700 block of N. Charles St. about 1 p.m. when he received a description of a man who was robbing the Signet Bank in the 1200 block of Charles.

Crane hurriedly walked to the bank, entered and saw several employees pointing to a man, who fit the robber's description and was counting cash near a teller's station, Jennings said.

Crane arrested the unarmed man, who is accused of giving a teller a note demanding money.

Jennings said a bank employee called police during the robbery.

Jeffrie Allen Thomas, 35, of the 1200 block of Myrtle Ave. was charged with robbing the bank yesterday and March 3, Jennings said.

He was being held at the Central Booking and Intake Center, pending a bail hearing today in District Court.
