Police seek pair who robbed market Man hides inside store, then emerges with gun

State police are searching for two people wanted in the armed robbery of Weis Market in Mount Airy late Thursday.

Witnesses said a man hid in the store, then emerged brandishing a pistol to accost night-shift employees at 10: 30 p.m. He demanded and gained entry to the store safe, police said.

The man was described as white, about 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds and wearing dark clothing, a white baseball cap and a dark ski mask that partially hid his face. He carried a citizens band radio and used it to talk to an accomplice outside the store, witnesses said.

From the sound of the voice heard on the radio, the accomplice may be a woman, witnesses told police.

No one was injured before the man fled on foot with a large amount of money, police said.

Mount Airy: Firefighters responded at 6: 03 p.m. Thursday to a house fire on Woodbine Road at Frederick Road. Units were out 17 minutes.
