Man turns himself in to police in drug case

April 02, 1997

A third suspect police had been seeking in connection with a marijuana-growing operation in Glen Burnie turned himself in Monday, county police said.

Bernard Charles Khoury, 25, of the first block of Eighth Ave. in Glen Burnie was charged with possessing drug production equipment, manufacturing drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

Police said the man turned himself in at the Southern District Station after he learned of the warrant for his arrest. The man's home was raided just after 8 p.m. March 26, and police said they found the remains of a water garden in the man's room, along with withered leaves and stems of marijuana, growing lights, soil, fertilizer, an elaborate ventilation system and books on how to grow marijuana.

Six grams of cocaine was also found in his room, police said. Marijuana residue and several smoking devices were found in other common areas of the house, they said, and two men also there were arrested.
