Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City: 3100 block of West Springs Drive: Someone broke into an apartment Sunday or Monday through an unlocked rear window, and stole a stereo and videocassette recorder.

Ellicott City: 11000 block of Gaither Farm Road: Two houses under construction were broken into Sunday or Monday, and tools, including a floor jack, saw, drill, hammer drill and level, were taken.

Owen Brown: 9000 block of Snowden River Parkway: Someone tried to break into Borders Books and Music on Sunday or Monday, but no entry was gained.

Owen Brown: 7100 block of Minstrel Way: Cash was stolen from the Spa Lady Health Club on Sunday or Monday after a robber gained entry through a side door.

Kings Contrivance: 8900 block of Guilford Road: Three businesses were broken into between Friday and Monday, but nothing was reported missing.

North Laurel: 10100 block of U.S. 1: Someone broke into McMillan Marine Inc. on Monday, and stole fishing rods.

North Laurel: 9300 block of Kings Grant Road: A resident was at home Monday when he heard someone trying to open the front door. No one entered the house.

Savage: 8700 block of Bollman Place: Sugar and flour were stolen from a trailer belonging to Renaissance Pastries between Friday and Monday.
