Spring break

March 30, 1997|By Roch Eric Kubatko and Peter Schmuck

What the Orioles did yesterday: Defeated the Montreal Expos, 4-3, in their final Florida exhibition game. Scott Erickson pitched four innings but left the game with a slight groin strain. Scott Kamieniecki, Armando Benitez and Randy Myers combined to give up one hit over the final five innings.

What the Orioles will do today: Play their final exhibition game, against the St. Louis Cardinals at Camden Yards.

You know it's not spring training when: Various Orioles show up in the clubhouse wearing suits and ties in 90-degree heat. They were scheduled to fly out of Fort Lauderdale after the game for the trip north and needed to bring their best attire.
