Two women, both in their 30s, were shot early yesterday in a bedroom in their home in the Cherry Hill neighborhood of South Baltimore. One of them was killed.

Charlene Jones, 36, was found dead in the 900 block of Seagull Ave. where she lived, police said. She was shot several times.

Robin Blake, 37, also a resident, was sleeping on a bed when she was shot by the same gunman, police said. Blake was reported in critical but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday afternoon.

Shortly before 4: 30 a.m., a confrontation occurred between Jones and the unidentified suspect, police said. The man chased Jones into the bedroom, where she attempted to hide between the bed where Blake was sleeping and the wall, police said.

L The suspect fired several times before fleeing, police said.

Homicide Detective Oscar Requer said police are looking for a man in his late teens. He was an acquaintance of Jones and known to the other residents, who included several children, police said.

Though they do not have his full name, detectives said they knew the suspect's street name.

Requer said police did not know a motive but, "We haven't eliminated drugs."
