Yervant Edward Cavanoz,90, commissioned to design a 69-carat diamond for Elizabeth Taylor that took three months to cut, died March 9 in Rio Rancho, N.M. Mr. Cavanoz, born aboard a ship in the Turkish Sea, grew up near Paris and came to the United States in 1928, working in New York City for several major jewelry companies.

Nina Mason Pulliam,90, the first woman admitted to the Society of Professional Journalists and who with her husband built newspapers in Arizona and Indiana, died Wednesday in Paradise Valley, Ariz.
