March 27, 1997|By TaNoah Morgan | TaNoah Morgan,SUN STAFF

A two-alarm fire swept through a vacant Chinese restaurant on Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park yesterday, causing serious damage to rear storage rooms, county fire officials said.

No one was injured in the fire at the former China Express restaurant in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway, Lt. Allan Graves said.

The cause is under investigation.

Firefighters from the Brooklyn company were called to the restaurant shortly before 9 a.m. and called for a second alarm. With Baltimore firefighters, they extinguished the fire shortly after 9: 30 a.m.

The restaurant had been closed about three months, but some appliances and a few pieces of furniture remained in the building. Graves did not have an estimate for the damage.
