A 44-year-old mathematics teacher from Oakland Mills High School has been placed on leave after her arrest last week on drug charges.

Howard County police arrested Zettie Angela Sampson at her Ellicott City home in the 5000 block of Avoca Avenue about 7: 40 p.m. Thursday.

A police spokesman said the county's Street Drug Unit served a search warrant at her house and found small amounts of marijuana and cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Sampson, charged with possession of the drugs and paraphernalia, was released from the Howard County Detention Center.

According to Patti Caplan, a county school system spokeswoman, Sampson will be placed on leave until the county Board of Education can conduct an investigation.
