Arts and crafts shop denied zoning OK

March 24, 1997

The Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals has denied an appeal for an arts and crafts shop on Woodbine Road near Winfield.

The board found that the business was not an authorized use of the 5.49-acre property. Bonita L. Harmon appealed an earlier denial for the shop at her home at 5306 Woodbine Road, zoned a conservation district.

Harmon and her husband make crafts on weekends and wish to display them in an empty in-law apartment. The couple also wanted to sell other crafts on consignment. They did not anticipate having any employees.

Although denying the appeal, the board noted that the couple could make their crafts and occasionally sell them from their home as an accessory use.
